Criteria for an applicant are:
- Minimum O-level education
- COP (Certificate of Proficiency) in insurance
- Previous working experience (with a direct connection to finance)
Upon acceptance the Old Mutual Agent is taken through a two-week in-house training programme where they are taught about the company, its history, background and products.
Following a three-month probation period agents are placed under close supervision of their Managers who readily provide support.

- Appreciation of Economics and its application to Investments.
- Previous working experience (with a direct connection to finance)
